Severe pain, inability to bear weight, or visible deformity.

Rest
Stop activity immediately and keep weight off the injured foot.
Ice
Apply ice packs for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hours to reduce swelling.
Compression
Wrap with an elastic bandage to support and minimize swelling.
Elevation
Keep the foot raised above heart level to drain fluid.
